September Event | INTERNATIONAL VILLAGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Site Tour

Join us on Thursday, September 15th from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm for a tour of the construction site of the INTERNATIONAL VILLAGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL with Francl Architects.
This three-story, in-fill building designed by Francl Architects, is integrated into the Firenze development at Expo Boulevard and Abbott Street, which includes two residential towers, commercial space, and a childcare centre. It will accommodate 510 students from kindergarten to Grade 7 and be built above an existing parkade. Andy Livingstone Park will act as its outdoor play area. The school features small learning communities within the larger facility. Each community consists of 3–4 classrooms clustered around a large commons as well as a special education service area. This layout allows for groups of variable size and activities from messy, active explorations through to quiet, reflective learning. The facility supports a diverse student population and a range of educational modalities while providing a space for teachers to plan, prepare and collaborate with one other.

IMPORTANT
Please note that you are required to have personal protective equipment (PPE) to access this active construction site.

  • Bring your own hard hat, steel-toed safety boots (over the ankle only-no sneaker type shoes), high visibility vest and safety glasses. Anyone not in possession of these items at event sign-in will not be permitted to attend the tour. 
  • The tour will start at the entrance on Expo Boulevard.
  • There will be a site orientation prior to the tour; please be at the gate by 4:00 pm.
  • The construction site is not considered “accessible” as tour may require the climbing of stairs (the project is 3 storeys) and stepping over obstacles.
