GENERAL VOLUNTEERING

SPECIFIC VOLUNTEERING


​SECRETARY TO THE STEERING COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER

We are looking for a volunteer to act as a secretary to the steering committee. This requires attendance of all steering committee meetings (every two months), organisation of meeting, preparation of agendas, minuting of meetings, and distribution of the minutes. Join us if you are interested in seeing how we set direction for our organisation and to gain hands on experience in our organization. Time commitment is approximately 5 hours monthly.

Duties:  
– Attendance​ ​of​ ​all​ ​steering​ ​committee​ ​meetings​ ​(every​ ​2​ ​months) 
– Confirming​ ​attendance​ ​and​ ​location​ ​of​ ​the​ ​meeting  
– Preparation​ ​of​ ​agendas​ ​in​ ​consultation​ ​with​ ​Chairperson  
– Assist​ ​is​ ​setting​ ​up​ ​the​ ​meeting 
– Minuting​ ​of​ ​meetings 
– Distribution​ ​of​ ​Meeting​ ​Minutes 
– Time​ ​commitment​ ​is​ ​approximately​ ​5​ ​hours​ ​monthly. 

​PROGRAMMING COMMITTEE VOLUNTERS
We are looking to expand our programming team – and we would love it if you joined us!


The Programming Committee curates the programming that WIA delivers to its members and executes these events. Our events are typically monthly and range from construction site tours to panel discussions. Event themes are decided upon in general terms at the programming meetings, and a volunteer is assigned to take responsibility for each event’s direction and execution. The event’s lead volunteer is supported by a few others from the programming committee, and the roles alternate throughout the year between the volunteers. Each volunteer can expect to lead between 1-2 events per year.

In addition to volunteering for the events, the volunteers attend monthly evening meetings and participate in on-going team communication and organizational communication. They also decide on overall programming direction in collaboration with the WIA Steering Committee. Overall commitment varies from 1-3 hours a month to 5-10 hours when leading an event.

Duties and Tasks:
– Support WIA programming events
– Lead 1-2 events per year
– Attend monthly meetings
– Participate in on-going team communication and organizational communication
– Time commitment varies from 1-3 hours a month (when assisting an event) to 5-10 hours a month (when – leading an event).​

​SPECIAL INITIATIVES COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER

We are looking for volunteers to join our special initiatives committee. The focus of this committee is to support the functioning of WIA (a group that looks strategically at problems and obstacles we face and looks to overcome these)  and pursue opportunities to deliver on WIA’s mandate beyond the monthly programmed events. This year we are looking to kickstart some new and exciting projects and we would love it if you would join us. Time commitment is approximately 5-10 hours monthly.

​Duties:
Support WIA operations
​Strategically solve problems in a group setting
Help further pursue WIA’s mandate beyond the monthly programming event
This year we are looking to kickstart some new and exciting projects and we would love it if you would join us.
Time commitment is approximately 5-10 hours monthly.

​COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER

Duties and Tasks:
– Review relevant Architecture news, articles and events with a focus on Women in Architecture
– Collaborate with other committee members to promote upcoming WIA events
– Assist committee to populate social media calendar
– Attend monthly Communications Committee Meetings

– Time commitment is approximately 5-10 hours monthly.


COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE EVENT PHOTOGRAPHER

Duties and Tasks:
– Photographically document monthly WIA events
– Perform basic edits for social media promotions
– Call into monthly Communications Committee Meetings
– Time commitment is approximately 5 hours a month. 

​​COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE EVENT VIDEOGRAPHER

Duties and Tasks: 
– Document lectures and discussions at monthly WIA events 
– Make simple edits on video footage
– Work with Communications Committee to create a YouTube channel
– Call into monthly Communications Meetings
