On the evening of May 16th, join us for a tour of Emily Carr University’s new building led by project architect Ana Maria Llanos, principal of Diamond and Schmitt Architects Vancouver. The project, a joint venture with Chernoff Thompson Architects, is a 290,000 sf landmark building located in a part of the city that is transforming from an industrial zone to a technology, arts, and education hub. The new building is composed as a series of interconnected program areas and linked by light-filled atria creating a dynamic spatial environment. Through its design, it allows the public and students a look into the creative work and process going on inside the building – its spaces and walls are always changing as part of the making process and artistic experimentation.
This project was delivered as a Public Private Partnership (P3) together with the Government of British Columbia and Ellis Don Construction Company.
